The Challenge
Public Participation Was Happening, But Citizens Were Not Always Being Heard
Communities were being invited to participate in county planning, but many lacked the information needed to meaningfully assess projects, question implementation, or follow up on government commitments.
In some wards, residents reported that they were seeing projects for the first time during the engagement. Others raised concerns about stalled projects, poor implementation, inadequate information, and limited opportunities to follow up.
What We Did
Taking Public Participation Ward by Ward
Rather than relying on a single county-wide forum, the initiative took engagement closer to communities, bringing development data and public participation directly into wards.
Community members were taken through projects planned or implemented in their areas, given space to verify what existed on the ground, and encouraged to identify gaps, priorities, and concerns.
The result was a more informed conversation between citizens, community leaders, and government representatives.
