Afya for Jamii

Afya for Jamii supports families facing early childhood malnutrition and maternal health challenges, particularly in HIV/AIDS-affected communities. We provide nutritional support, promote Moringa-based income generation, and raise awareness about maternal health, fostering healthier and more resilient communities.

About us

At Afya for Jamii, we are committed to empowering families and communities to overcome the challenges of early childhood malnutrition and maternal health crises. Our mission is to improve health outcomes, enhance socio-economic conditions, and nurture spiritual well-being, particularly in communities deeply impacted by HIV/AIDS. Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality rates while supporting the holistic development of families. One of our key initiatives addresses early childhood malnutrition, focusing on infants who are unable to be breastfed due to maternal mortality or severe illness. We provide essential nutritional support by distributing formula and foodstuffs to infants from birth to one year of age. For Christian families, we also offer Bibles as a source of spiritual nourishment and guidance, fostering holistic growth. Our Moringa Project is an innovative approach to economic and nutritional empowerment. We educate families on the remarkable benefits of the Moringa tree and equip them with skills to plant, process, and produce Moringa powder. This initiative not only improves nutritional health but also promotes the sale of Moringa-based products, enabling families to generate sustainable income. To further support community health and resilience, we provide adherence counseling, mental health referrals, and nutritional assessments. Our outreach programs focus on raising awareness about critical maternal danger signs, equipping communities with knowledge that saves lives and promotes informed decision-making. Afya for Jamii is more than an organization; we are a partner in building healthier, more informed, and economically resilient communities. Through our work, we strive to create a society where every family, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the resources and knowledge they need to thrive.
