Upendo Girls

We are committed to eliminating period poverty and preventing teenage pregnancies by providing sanitary pads and menstrual health education to girls in schools, villages, and children’s homes. By ensuring access to essential hygiene products and breaking stigmas, protect their dignity, and pursue their dreams without barriers.

About us

At Upendo Girls Initiative, we are driven by a clear mission: to empower girls by addressing critical challenges that threaten their health, education, and future. In many communities, period poverty and teenage pregnancies remain significant barriers that force girls to miss school, compromise their dignity, and limit their opportunities for a better life. For countless girls, a lack of access to sanitary pads means choosing between staying home or facing embarrassment at school. The result? Missed classes, lower academic performance, and in too many cases, dropping out entirely. Simultaneously, the absence of proper support systems and education contributes to a rise in teenage pregnancies, further compounding the struggles these young girls face. At Upendo Girls Initiative, we are working to change this reality. Our team actively visits schools, villages, and children’s homes to distribute essential sanitary pads and provide life-changing education on menstrual health and reproductive rights. By ensuring that girls have access to basic hygiene products, we are helping them remain in school, focus on their education, and pursue their dreams without barriers. Our efforts go beyond just providing products—we foster open conversations, break stigmas, and create supportive environments where girls can thrive. We believe that no girl should have to choose between her dignity and her education. Together, we can break this cycle of inequality and build a brighter, more inclusive future. Join us as we work tirelessly to give every girl the chance to succeed, free from the limitations of period poverty and teenage pregnancy. Because empowering girls today means creating strong, confident leaders for tomorrow.
